Digital Video Camcorders Techniques - Crossing the Line Part 1

There are a number of rules that need to be followed when doing any type of motion filming.

One of those is the 'Crossing the Line' rule.

This rule is basically used to keep continuity with the images so that the mind of the viewer doesn't get confused.

Crossing the line is a way to always keep the camcorder to one side of the subject to help better convey the 'story' of what's going on.

You see it a lot when a person is being interviewed.

As you see in the video above you create what is like an imaginary line between the camera and the subject.

You have to keep the camera to one side of that line or else you risk losing the audience as they get distracted by the disjointed pictures they are seeing across the screen in front of them.
