Dirt Bikes For Kids - They're Not All The Same, Find Out What's Right For Your Child

Dirt Bikes For Kids - Not to be confused with mini dirt bikes or 'pit bikes' as we call them.

Generally dirt bikes for kids can be classified as shown below:

  • Under 85cc for 2-strokes
  • Under 125cc for 4-strokes

Kids as young as 4 can start on a 50cc dirt bike with training wheels have the throttle pre-set to limit the speed. With an auto clutch and single speed transmission and they're away.

Two stroke 65 & 85cc dirt bikes for kids are generally for the kids who are more confident with riding dirt bikes as they can be potent racing machines.

With manual transmissions (eg. Five speed gearbox) requiring confidence using a clutch and high revving two stroke engines they are not suitable dirt bikes for kids as a beginner/learning bike.

The majority of dirt bikes for kids that are four stroke and under 125cc capacity are low in seat height, easier to use (still fun with good performance) bikes and are available from most manufacturers.
