Dirtbike & Motocross Riding Tips - Braking

More dirtbike & motocross riding tips on video from the boys at MXtv!

MXtv's Rod Lay show's you how to brake effectively on your dirtbike.

It's important to know that brakes aren't 'on, off' switches. You need to feed the power on that is the right ammount for the traction available.

And the amount of power is just enough before the wheels start to skid.

The front brake will always be the most effective brake as all the weight moves to the front of the bike as you slow.

And conversely, be smooth with the back break as it will easily lose traction and skid.

Avoid a "grabbing" motion on the front brake that could quickly send you over the bars or have the front wheel slip out from under you.

And as the weight heads to the front of the dirtbike, have your arms and body prepared for the force.

Best braking is done while the bike is vertical and not leaning into a corner.

One last thing, good, effective braking is good for the environment and doesn't tear up the trails.
