Freestyle
Dirtbikes - The Only Way To Fly!
Unlike
the more well-known motocross racing, freestyle dirtbikes competitions
focus not on speed, but acrobatics. Each rider must display a
high level of performance, taking the freestyle dirt bikes through
jumps and now FLIPS and TWISTS!
This competitive and extremely difficult sport requires freestyle
dirtbikes to be tailored perfectly to its dimensions--not one
built for racing, but for flying.
Lightweight with Instant response: generally 250cc 2-stroke motocross
bikes as they offer the right power to weight ratio to get the
necessary height and distance needed to perform the complex tricks.
Freestyle
dirtbikes also have specific traits that separate them from their
motocross brothers:
 |
Streamlined
Design: built with shortened fenders, freestyle dirtdikes
allow the pilot to swing his legs over the front and rear
of the bike to gain maximum points. |
| Handhold
points: Sideplates are often opened up at the airbox to offer
additional grab points while performing tricks. |
 |
 |
Handle
bar adjustments: bar 'risers' open out the cockpit allowing
the rider more room to move their legs for tricks as well
as having the bars in an 'easy to retrieve' location. Their
position is easier on the hands so the focus can be on a maneuver. |
Extreme designs for an extra edge: cut down seat foam, wild and
crazy graphics combined with their own style and fearless attitude!
Freestyle dirtbikes require these things for competition; many
people believe it to be a dangerous, but thrilling, sport. That's
true, but these efforts only increase the thrill and allow for
more spectacular maneuvers.
