There
can be a number of reasons why you might want to find the owner
of a property:
- you're
a neighbour and have property issues to discuss
- you
have a notice to deliver
- you
like the property and want to make an offer etc.
Option
1: Start with Locals
A
basic way to start is to ask around. Knock on the door, check
with the neighbours or go to the local shop and see if anyone
in the area might have an answer for you.

2: Speak To Local Authorities
There
is certain limitations due to privacy legislation that the local
Council, Police, Government departments, County etc. can give
to you, but they may be able (if willing) to make contact on your
behalf.

3: Talk to a Real Estate Agent
If
the house has been sold recently, is being rented out or near
other properties that have been sold the local realtor may have
an idea of who the owner is. They may also be very helpful if
they believe they could make a commission on a sale!

4: Send Them A Letter
If
the property appears to be vacant then sending a letter to the
property address in the hope that the owner has a re-direct notice
on mail may get them to contact you.
