Meditation
For Beginners
Sitting
- images of the 'lotus posture' may put people off (particularly
those with bad knees), but it is not entirely necessary. Sitting
upright and straight, but not rigidly erect in a position you
can comfortably maintain for a long period.
Breathing
- in through the nose and out through the nose. Not forcing the
breath in any way. Be comfortable, be natural.
Mind
Training - as a beginner you will find calming the mind to be
the biggest obstacle. Simple techniques of counting breaths or
relaxing body parts to the exclusion of everything else is a useful
tool until you can do it naturally.
The
practice of meditating to improve your mood has been increasing
