Mini
Dirt Bikes - There used to be a time when mini dirt bikes
were just for kids. Many still are (see
dirt bikes for kids), but there's been a change and mini dirt
bikes cater to a whole new audience.
It
started in backyards and race pits around the world. We're talking
about 'big boys', grown-up men and women hotting up racing and
generally having a ball on mini dirt bikes, also called 'pit bikes'.
You
can pick a "pit bike" or "mini dirt bikes for adults" by accessories
like:
- Front
and rear discs (sometimes 'wave' rotors)
- Tall
bars with 'bar risers'
- You
might even see upside down & oversized forks
- And
wild and funky graphic kits.
What
steps would you take to build your own 'pit bikes' or mini dirt
bikes?
Here's
a quickstart guide to help you get moving:
-
Beginning with a XR/CRF 50, TTR or KLX mini dirt bike.
- Go
to a company like BBR Motorsports who specialize in performance
parts for mini dirt bikes. BBR can be found at online.
- A
complete exhaust system to better 'flow' the engine
- Heavy
duty fork and shock springs to handle an adults weight
- Handlebar
kits to open out the 'cockpit'
- Graphic
kits for an individual look.
Once
you have the basic set-up then over time you can add on extras
like wide footpegs, aluminum swingarms, skid plates, oversized
rims, big bore kits etc.
But if you don't want to do all the work of customizing your own
mini dirt bikes here's a group already done:
-

- Daifo
- Factory
bike
- Dyang
