Motocross Riding Tips - Cornering

More motocross riding tips on video!

Everyone can go fast in a straight line, but carrying that speed through the corner is where the faster guys cut the lap times.

Just remember, as you approach a corner be looking well ahead, the entry to most corners will be rough with braking bumps so try to pick the smoothest entry line.

You should be standing up in the attack position to brake effectively and also to allow your legs and arms to soak up some of the bumps.
As you finish braking move smoothly into the cornering position in one fluid movement, that is with your inside leg out and forward to weight the front wheel.

Steady in means fast out. So break in control and transition smoothly to the turn.

That way you can carry more entry speed into the corner as you're well balanced which will put you in a position to exit faster.

Different techniques, body positioning and throttle control are needed for bermed, rutted, flat and off-cambered corners.

Hi, David,

You're right about how to change the attitude of the bike in mid-air. You can accelerate on the take-off ramp but to better control the bike it is best to have a steady throttle as your front wheel leaves the ramp.
